The first annual health disparities symposium for the Avance Center was held on May 22, 2013. This event formally launched the Avance Center, introducing its mission, goals, and activities, and initiated a discussion of important Latino health disparity issues through a panel session. The symposium was held at the City View Room at The George Washington University, and brought together experts, stakeholders, community members, and service providers to initiate the discussion of challenges and solutions for addressing Latino health disparities, particularly in the community of Langley Park, Maryland.
